Workshop / Presentation Harmonizing Organizing This workshop opens a space to remember we are all makers of music! This magical power is an amazing resource in our struggles for social justice. Together we will tap into this power and explore the process of songwriting on the long walk to freedom.
Biography The Peace Poets are a collective of extraordinary Hip Hop and Spoken Word artists who celebrate life and advocate for freedom, justice, and peace through music and poetry. With their original songs, chants, and poems, they have helped invigorate some the great social movements of our time — from the Movement for Black Lives, to resistance to mass incarceration, to campaigns for climate justice and immigrants’ rights. Hailing from The Bronx, the Peace Poets have performed in more than 40 countries, often with communities facing threats to their human rights, their land, and their freedom. They have rocked the microphones in schools, prisons, community centers, clubs, rallies, and refugee camps. In all their work — whether on stage, in a classroom, or in the streets — they are committed to rising up the power of people to be creative and connected. The Peace Poets live lives that face the crises of our current reality with art and action that heals, connects and reminds us that we can all be the medicine this world needs.
