Body Ritual Movement is the name given by Diego Pinon of Tlalpujahuja Mexico describing his Butoh Influenced forms of body and ritual practices. Strongly influenced by Pinon, Maria will provide Ritual and Body exercises that integrate rhythm and rigor to open the energetic centers of the body. These openings loosen the gateways of perception into the movement practice. Butoh is known for contacting the unseen world, the magic from the "other side", dreamscape, image and deep soulscapes. The elements are used as an abstract way into the psyche ~ bridging life in all it's dimensions~ and allows for the personal to relate with the infinite. The invitation is to feel deeply, to let the body express and reveal, share from the finite spaces in the body, and to let the soul surface. Maria Flegas has been dancing since the womb. She is influenced by her Greek ancestral (ecstatic) dance, as well as many other forms such as Butoh, Yoruban, Modern, Tribal Fusion, and Acro Dance. As a former US gymnast and circus artist, her spirit has a propensity to fly as well as draw influence from deep in her body, the earth~ and stories of origin. Maria loves to facilitate Authentic Movement ~wherein the raw, uninterrupted impulse of the body can emerge from the softest of tissues. She also draws from elemental, ancestral and imagistic influences in facilitating Butoh and Ritual Movement. She is especially excited about working in different landscapes and building a fun and adventurous community experience.
