Peace is within us, each and every moment. Let's gather as a community for an embodied experience that restores vitality, clarity, and peace through movement, visualization, and breath. Qigong (chee-gung) is a simple practice of moving energy intentionally through your body and beyond, and requires no previous experience. In peace qigong, you will sense your heartbeat connected to the heartbeat of mother earth, resonating with the heartbeat of all living beings. As you are guided through this form, you will experience harmonization of energies within and around you. This gentle method will help you feel centered and clear, and support our Arise experience by enhancing and uniting our shared intentions, vision, and compassion.
Kathleen McGoey began practicing qigong (chee-gung), a Daoist movement meditation, to grow in trust, joy, and freedom. Qigong helps to open physical and energetic pathways in the body through gentle movement, guided breath, and visualization. Practitioners experience increased vitality, relaxation, improved circulation, and better overall physical and emotional health. In this class, you will learn simple sequences that you can practice at home or in nature, and experience profound changes in your wellness. Kathleen is on an evolving journey as a peacemaker and has found qigong to be an important practice for integrating inner and outer experiences, and coming to rest in her center while also yielding to change. This discovery led her to write a book, Harmonizing Heavens and Earth: A Daoist Shamanic Approach to Elicitive Peacework, which explores her personal experiences with qigong, and draws connections to how qigong helps us develop skills for transforming conflict. Currently, Kathleen applies this practice in the field of restorative justice. She is the director of Longmont Community Justice Partnership, where she facilitates peacemaking processes and trains others in restorative justice practices. Kathleen is a member of the Lazuli Daoist Dipper Arts School, and an ordained Daoshi.
