Led by Omar Al-Tbal of Gipsy Moon, this workshop will touch up on the basics of the djembe. Omar will teach 2 Rhythms from Africa, that are widely used in drum circles across America. We will go over rules of etiquette when entering and exiting a drum circle, basic drum care and rope tuning. We will Briefly touch up on the history of the djembe and the connection between the drummers and dancers. At the end, there will be an open drum circle for anyone to participate in. Bring your own drum! Omar Al-Tbal, formerly of Gipsy Moon is an experienced world percussionist. Having traveled the world studying different kinds of drumming, Omar has compiled a vast skillset in Drum circles and will be sharing his knowledge with everyone at 'Drum circle 101'. Omar's techniques range from Turkish to Afro-Cuban and all that comes in-between. His unique style and sound can be found across all genres with all types of bands across the nation.
