Ley Line

Four voices coalesce. Rooted in rhythm. The women of Ley Line transcend language and genres to create a sound that seems to emerge from deep within the earth. Dynamic harmonies run like a current through textures of stand up bass, guitar, ukulele and percussion. Raised on the North American traditions of blues, folk and soul and inspired by their world travels, Ley Line creates a global soundscape; blending rhythms and influences from Brazil, Latin America and West Africa. Ley Line’s multilingual performances unite audiences around the world.

Ley Line’s debut album, Field Notes, is an accumulation of original compositions and world folk music. The 2016 album explored the landscape of global folk from Brazilian forró and Spanish healing songs, to Swahili gospel and vintage pop. In summer of 2017, Ley Line embarked on their second self-managed tour, traveling 3,000 miles across Brazil. They are currently collaborating with Brazilian artists on the production of a visual album. This multimedia project to be released in 2018 will incorporate original music and imagery inspired by the natural beauty and rich musical traditions and folklore of Brazil. Through the power of music, Ley Line works towards creating unity and expanding cultural appreciation.
